Lehi Lloyd - The Visioneer

Years ago when I was 17 I started buying wire from electricians and stripping it with a knife. I couldn't strip wire fast enough to make the business work, plus it killed my hands. It was simply impossible to strip all that small wire by hand. Ten years later I came across about 200 lbs of wire, so I decided to invent something using a razor embedded in a piece of steel with a hole in it for the wire to go through. It worked but not for long and not very well, so I put a wheel on it and welded it together. That worked well for awhile until it wore out. I then put the business away for 7 years, until I lost my job, and started buying wire again. I built a very crude machine with a wheel and bearings and a spring, but that one soon broke and people seemed more interested in stripping there own wire than selling it to me so I put my crude machine on Craigslist as an after thought, and forgot about it. A month later an electrician called me and wanted to see a demonstration, so I brought my crude machine that could only do small wire. He loved it but needed one that could do all wire, so I built him one. Three months later he called me and said the machine broke, so I built him a new one that was 10 times tougher. With this new design I started to sell many more, then one buyer call with a broken machine, so I built him a completely new one; a new design.I kept selling the new design on Craigslist and after 7 months, with no broken machines I started selling on eBay. This machine looks simple but it's a very difficult machine to make all the moving parts come together perfectly and work correctly.googlehtpps
